Zipangu Fest's first standalone event kicks off with RackGaki: Japanese Graffiti, a well-loved documentary in graff writers' circles about the scene in Japan. Notably, RackGaki director Suridh Hassan is based in London.
This will be followed by a selection of shorts, and Pyuupiru 2001-2008, an intimate study spanning 8 years of the life of director Daishi Matsunaga’s friend and visual artist Pyuupiru. The documentary is a moving portrait charting the physical, psychological and artistic metamorphosis of a character, uncomfortable with the male body with which he was born, whose appearances in outrageous, attention-grabbing costumes blur the line between creator and creation.
The night will end with a live set by DJ Tomoki Tamura + SUPERMETHOD.
Admission is £5 per head for the entire night. Seats will be limited, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment!
